The Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA) announced on Thursday the conclusion of a joint American-Greek military training exercise, which had been underway since May 20 in the wider Attica area.

This collaboration involved personnel and equipment from Greece's Special Operations Air Task Unit (SOATU) and their American counterparts from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR).

The training exercise focused primarily on the planning and execution of aerial special operations, a key component in enhancing both nations' military readiness and operational capabilities. GEETHA emphasised that the exercise also served as a preparatory phase for the integration of the newly acquired UH-60 helicopters into SOATU, highlighting the importance of these assets in future operations.

Officials from both sides lauded the exercise as a significant step in strengthening bilateral military ties and improving interoperability between the Greek and American forces. The successful completion of this exercise underscores the commitment of both nations to maintaining a high level of preparedness and cooperation in addressing regional security challenges.
