Crime is out of control in Athens, with the latest serious incident occurring on a bus.
The incident happened on the route of the A2 bus on Amfitheas Avenue in Palaio Faliro, with an Albanian and two Pakistanis attacking, beating, and even... biting a bus ticket inspector!
As Yiannis Xanthopoulos, the ticket inspector, told STAR on Monday about the bite: "As unbelievable as it may seem to you, one bit me. I didn't realise it at the time. Today, the medical examiner told me that it was a bite."
"They threw me down and hit me on the head, hit me with a motorcycle key," he added.
The foreign criminals, after beating him, tried to grab his wallet as well!
"If they had a knife, I wouldn't be here giving you an interview," the ticket inspector explained.
Ticket inspectors say they feel defenceless and are asking for state protection as incidents of passenger violence are on the rise. In this specific attack, the foreigners were arrested by the police.
The victim's lawyer, Manolis Anastasakis, told STAR that the victim is suing for attempted robbery and aggravated battery.
