Firecracker Traces Found at Hydra Beach Fire Scene Five Days After Incident

Hydra, Greece - A delayed autopsy conducted five days after a fire ravaged the island of Hydra has revealed traces of firecrackers at the suspected origin point on the beach. The discovery, coupled with eyewitness accounts, raises suspicions of foul play.

Despite the elapsed time, Fire Department investigators discovered remnants of firecrackers, believed to be of the powerful "Cobra" type, along with two water bottles, indicating human presence at the time of the fire. This crucial evidence was found near Agios Nikolaos bay, where the yacht "Persephone" was anchored.

The delayed beach investigation was ordered by the prosecutor after an initial, fruitless search atop the hill overlooking the scorched area.

Adding to the growing suspicion, a witness reported hearing loud bangs coinciding with the fire's outbreak. The witness also claimed to have seen a small boat navigating between the shore and the "Persephone."

The Fire Department's Arson Crimes Directorate (DAEE) is actively investigating the incident, and photos from the scene have been released. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
