In what can only be described as ironic given the rumour treadmill, which had a Grexit on the cards for so long, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras arrives in Brussels today to attend the European Union summit where EU leaders are expected to make an announcement relating to Britain’s exit from the union.

His visit also comes against the backdrop of the Spanish elections, which have put a dent in his vision of a European swing to the left, after the Podemos party loss.

Tsipras along with the other 26 EU Leaders are expected to discuss the results of the British referendum and will express their regret over the outcome but will not make any decisions on how to move forward.

It is expected that EU leaders will not pressure British Prime Minister David Cameron to activate article 50 of the European Treaty to leave the union before the British parliament decides to do so.
