According to data released yesterday by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority over 20 million passengers passed through Greek airports during the first six months of the year, an increase of 8 percent, which includes domestic and international passengers.
The airports of Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Corfu received the most passengers in June, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
Last month, Athens’ airport welcomed 1.9 million passengers, Heraklion’s passenger traffic amounted to 969,308 and 733.530 passengers passed through Rhodes’ airport. Thessaloniki’s passenger traffic amounted to 576,097 passengers and Corfu welcomed 445,125 passengers.
The total number of flights at Greek airports during the January-June period reached 189,008 (of which 89,343 were domestic flights and 99,665 were international), up 4.2 percent (4.7 percent rise in domestic flights and 3.8 percent rise in international flights), compared to the corresponding period of 2015 which had recorded 181,352 flights.
Last month in June alone, more than 6 million passengers passed through Greek airports.
