‘Europe will fall apart’ warns Greek President 2

The Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos made a dire prediction during the launch of the Delphi Economic Forum to be held on March 2-5, warning that unless unification is successful, the European Project will fall apart altogether.

‘’If European integration is not achieved, the resulting stagnation risks the European Union’s dissolution, starting from the core, the Eurozone. This is because the survival and overall perspective of the European Union and the Eurozone depends not only on economic and monetary progress, but primarily on the strength of the institutions of the European edifice which, by their nature, are the only ones who can guarantee stability and European integration itself, both as target and as a process,’’ said the Greek President.

Pavlopoulos highlighted the warning signs ahead of the forum which will include participation of senior EU officials and international organizations, major think-tanks, current and former ministers, former prime ministers and very important representatives of domestic and international academic community.

The forum aims to identify the main global trends, assess their implications and review the resulting challenges and policy options confronting decision-makers of the wider Eastern Mediterranean Region. It will also focus on Greece’s need for structural reforms and new leadership strategies, which will result in a new model of governance.

It is expected that more than 250 leading personalities will attend the forum that will focus on 41 issues regarding recent developments in the world, Europe and Greece.
