Think of Greece and many things come to mind- summer holidays, food and frappe, history, culture. Few would think of the medical field. Although it is well known around the world that Hippocrates was the father of Western medicine, it is less known that currently Greece is a world leader in IVF, dental care, opthalmological procedures, laparoscopic and robotic surgery and plastic surgery.
With health tourism anticipated to be one of the most dynamic growth levers of the Greek economy in the coming decade, the level of awareness is set to change, and championing that change is Health Tourism Greece who are sending a delegation of leading doctors, surgeons and medical scientists around the world to meet with their overseas counterparts and promote Greece's position as a health tourism destination.
On Friday 24th November, Sydney will be welcoming members of the delegation at Beta Bar and Gallery, which also includes politicians and members of Greece's media, as they address medical practitioners, politicians, media and community leaders at a business lunch hosted by the Hellenic Club.

The delegation includes Dr Konstantinos Pantos, Director of Assisted Fertilisation Unit and Founder of ATHENS GENESIS, most commonly known as the man making women with slim chances of becoming mothers realise their dream. Perhaps the most famous recipient of his services, Australia's own TV personality, comedian and author Mary Coustas, will fittingly be the MC at the event.
Also joining Dr Pantos are Deputy Foreign Minister of European Affairs Georgios Katrougalos, President of the International Health Tourism Centre Giorgos Patoulis, and leading surgeons in the dental, opthalmological, gynecological and plastic surgery fields.
