Renowned Greek designer, Vasileios Kostetos presented a unique fashion show in Nea Smyrni, a southern suburb of Athens, earlier this week.
Vasileios Kostetsos’ new collection has been titled “Proussa Resort 2019, Passion of Fashion” and featured models dressed in airy creations and costumes with references to Asia Minor and Byzantium.
The audience was blown away with the touch of nostalgia on the runway and the creative designs, which featured bold colours, mostly in shades of blue, black, gold and silver.
“I do not know if the Greek fashion has overcome the crisis, but I personally try to do my best to organise big shows so that my clients, my fans, feel that nothing has changed and the Greek fashion industry can compete with foreign designers,” Vasileios said.
The designer became involved in the world of fashion at the age of nine as his mother was an established clothes importer in Greece. In 1990, he launched his own label, opened his first studio in Kolonaki and presented his first haute couture collection with the world’s major super models at the time, such as Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer. His collections have been presented in Dusseldorf, New Delhi international fashion week, London and New York Fashion Weeks.
Being one of the most famous fashion designers in Greece for the past three decades, Vasileios is looking forward to showcasing his clothes in China in the future, as he admits to admiring Chinese culture.
