“I have seen both my kids die,” says John Macris’ father after burying his son

Stelios Macris, father of murdered man John Macris has spoken to the media for the first time since his son was killed, saying “I have seen both of my kids die.”

The 82-year-old said he was heartbroken as he laid his son John next to his daughter Vicki at Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney on Saturday.

"I'm so upset, I saw my son die in front of me. Do you know what it's like to have to bury your own blood? I've lost two children now. I watched them both die,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

In a private ceremony, Macris, 46, was laid to rest next to his sister, who died of leukemia more than 30 years ago.

According to reports Macris' widow, model Viktoria Karida, is terrified after her husband was assassinated in Athens on October 31 and wants to stay in Sydney with her in-laws, along with their two children.

Macris' burial in Australia came one week after he was farewelled in at their local Greek Orthodox church Saint Nektarios in Voula, which is only metres away from their family home.

Close family and friends accompanied Macris' body home in a flight from Athens last week, including his 37-year-old brother Alex, who is the only remaining child of Stelios and his wife.

The gunman is still on the run and police investigations are still underway.
