The first Athens-Thessaloniki express train line is launching on Monday, May 20, 2019.

The highly-anticipated route will enable passengers to travel from Athens to Thessaloniki in three hours and 55 minutes, as opposed to the current 5 hours, according to the Transport and Infrastructures General Secretary Thanos Bourdos.

The routes will be initially carried out by three TRAINOSE trains coaches overhauled by EASTY and will include all amenities for a comfortable and relaxing trip and even WiFi.

Soon, two ultra-modern trains are scheduled to arrive from Italy, similar to the “Silver Arrow” that had been tested in the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF’s) inauguration last year.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Spirtzis, is set to present the new 450-km-long railway line Athens-Thessaloniki next Wednesday.

The electric trains will be included on TRAINOSE’s daily schedule and will make two stops, one at Lianokladi and another in Larissa.

The service will initially take place with three trains, with two more expected to arrive from Italy soon. The trains are said to offer all the necessary amenities for a comfortable trip, including WiFi.
