Greek soccer in mourning as former player Giorgos Xenidis dies aged 45


Greek football is in shock and mourning, following news that former player for Iraklis and AEK, Giorgos Xenidis, died of a heart attack today, Monday 3rd of June at the age of 45.

The great player of AEK, Iraklis, Anorthosis and Ionian, among other teams, sadly passed away after a heart attack. Reports claim the veteran footballer felt sick and suffered a heart attack, without being able to receive medical care in time.

Xenidis was born in Thessaloniki on 6 December 1974 and started his career with Iraklis’ before joining a professional team in the summer of 1994 and played left back for most of his career before retiring in July 2010.
