A devastated bride and groom who thought their dream day needed to be cancelled, as their travel, accommodation, and reception were all booked through collapsed travel company Thomas Cook, will walk down the aisle today as planned, thanks to the initiative of Lindos Hotel Princess, together with the head of the island’s travel agency.

Thomas Cook, 29, who shares the same name as the bust travel company, and his partner Amelia Binch, 27, from Hucknall, Notts, were shattered and believed they had lost their 12,000 euro, as they had booked their entire wedding package through Thomas Cook.

The couple arrived in Rhodes a week before their big day and planned to marry at the Lindos Princess hotel today September 27, with the best man and other guests due to arrive on the Greek island with Thomas Cook.

But the distraught couple were then told the wedding might not go ahead, as the Thomas Cook package included the entire ceremony, flowers, cake, styling, and entertainment.

The British travel company went bust in the early hours of Monday morning after failing to secure a last-ditch rescue deal, with all future flights and holidays cancelled.

“I am just devastated. We have got more than 30 friends and family coming out, half are stuck at home in limbo. My best man is still in England. No one here knows anything,” Thomas told media on Tuesday.

The couple’s story made worldwide headlines, however, the Lindos Princess Hotel, along with Thomas Cook’s Rhodes office chief intervened just in time and made sure that the wedding would take place today as the couple had planned.

Hotel management made sure the 30 invited guests were able to fly over from England and assured the couple their big day will include all the fine details they dreamed of.
