*Izakaya offers Japanese fusion cuisine

Izakaya // 60 euro

The Izakaya Japanese restaurant in Kolonaki is loved for its Japanese fusion cuisine, served up in an industrial space with colourful pop art wall posters. Don’t let the relaxed atmosphere fool you, the menu designed by  Chronis Damalas is a serious homage to the best of Japanese cuisine, featuring the finest fresh ingredients.

Frater and Soror // 30 euro

Chef Demosthenes Balopoulos serves up a seasonal and well-considered menu at this multi-level eatery in the hip neighbourhood of Pagrati. On a menu where ravioli sits comfortably next to Keftedes and Sliders, all dishes are made with high-quality ingredients and are best accompanied by one of their famous Gin and Tonics.

Birdman // 30 euro

Just a few steps from Syntagma Square, Mars Vezene’s Birdman is a relaxed, cosy Japense “Pub + Grill” serving up a variety of Japanese dishes, inspired by the traditional yakitori/ya of Japan and the modern Japanese restaurants of New York and L.A. The beauty of the Birdman menu lies in the produce, which is ethically sourced from both Japan and Greece. With a buzzing atmosphere, fantastic service and impressive cocktail list to boot, Birdman has fast become a favourite in the Athens food scene.
