George Floyd in Athens

The death of American George Floyd by a policeman in the USA also sparked protests in Greece with youth division of the Communist Party of Greece (KNE) surrounding the American Embassy in Athens.

Protestors claimed they were there to denounce “the barbarity and repression of the American government following the murder of George Floyd by a policeman.”

Holding placards and banners with mottos like “No breathing space to the system creating crises, wars and racism” and “It’s Trump, it was Obama, but always above all it’s capitalism” they walked from nearby Eleftheria Park, where they had heard a KNE official speak of solidarity to the American people.
