Three Olympiacos players fined for partying during coronavirus lockdown

Greek professional football Olympiacos will fine three of its players for flouting lockdown rules and attending a hotel party.

It is recalled that Greece entered its second nationwide lockdown on Saturday.

Players Ruben Semedo, Lazar Randelovic and Bruno Felipe would be "fined the maximum amount" allowed under regulation the club announced. They were among about 30 people who attended a private party at a central Athens hotel on Sunday night.

The money from the fines will be donated to the state-run health service.

Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas said the party was an example of "irresponsible behaviour" that was being targeted by police as the country continues to see a surge in coronavirus cases.

It is not known whether this incident will affect the player's match participation.

Olympiacos will host Manchester City in the Champions League on Nov. 25.
