Greek Foreign Minister welcomes Egyptian President

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” on Tuesday evening.

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is in Greece for two-days to discuss bilateral ties with Greek officials.

The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will meet with him on Wednesday. They will discuss various regional and international issues of common interest including the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and efforts to counter terrorism and extremist thought.

This is the first visit from a top Egyptian official to Greece following the signing of the Greece-Egypt agreement on the delimitation of an Exclusive Economic Zone.

Prior to meeting Sakellaropoulou, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He will also meet Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
