Maria Sakkari’s journey at the Australian Open comes to an end

World No. 20 Maria Sakkari took on French opponent Kristina Mladenovic in the 1^st round of the 2021 Australian Open.

Unfortunately she was beaten 6-2 0-6 6-3.

Despite loosing the first set, Sakkari broke Mladenovic in the second to win 6-0. You could see her fighting spirit come back.

However after her incredibly well second set, the pressure was on and Mladenovic ended up winning 6-3.

Last year at the Australian Open, Sakkari lost in the 4^th round 6-7(4) 6-3 6-2 to Petra Kvitova.
