Theocharis to promote Greek tourism in London

Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis will have a series of meetings with top UK officials, representatives of airline companies and tourism market executives during his visit to London between Monday and Wednesday.

The purpose of his trip is to promote the opening of the 2021 Greek tourism season on May 15 to all tourists who have a vaccination or tested negative for COVID-19 less than 72 hours before arriving in Greece.

Specifically, Theocharis will meet with UK Minister for Asia at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Nigel Adams.

The two officials are expected to discuss the terms that will allow unobstructed movement between Greece and the UK in the immediate future.

Theocharis will also have meetings with top executives of the three largest UK airlines – British Airways, EasyJet and Jet2, the Tourism Ministry said.

The three air carriers offer their services to millions of tourists every year and the frequency of their flights to Greece is very important.

The UK is one of the largest markets for Greek tourism.

Indicatively, 3.5 million tourists from the UK visited Greece in 2019.

The Greek Minister will also meet in London with Noel Josephides, member of the board of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, AITO, and president of the Travel Foundation.

He will also give a series of interviews to British media, such as BBC, Sky News, The Telegraph and others, and will have a meeting with Greek correspondents in London.
