History was written by Evangelia Platanioti at the European Aquatics Championships, in Budapest.

The 26-year-old impressed in the solo technical final of artistic swimming, scoring 90.8000, to earn a bronze medal, behind Russian Subotina (96.4333) and Ukrainian Fiedina (93.7000).

It was the second medal for Evangelia who on Tuesday, won the silver medal in the solo free final of artistic swimming at the European Championship.

Athletes from 14 countries took part in the competition which were initially scheduled for May 2020, but were postponed in the wake of the coronavirus.

"Warm congratulations to the champion of artistic swimming. Well done Evangelia, let's go for even higher," Deputy Minister for Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis tweeted.

"On behalf of the entire Board of Directors of KOE, I would like to congratulate Evangelia and her coaches... The best is yet to come," said the President of the Hellenic Swimming Federation, Kyriakos Giannopoulos.
