Ange Postecoglou in Advanced Talks to Become Manager of Scottish Football Powerhouse, Celtic

Ange Postecoglou

Celtic ‘close to announcing Ange Postecoglou as their new manager’ with the Greek-born former coach of Australian National team ‘Socceroos’, set to join from Japanese side ‘Yokohama F Marinos’ after Eddie Howe’s talks with Celtic break down.

“We can now confirm that Eddie will not be joining the Club, for reasons outwith both his and Celtic’s control,” reads a statement by Celtic Football Club.

Celtic parted ways with former manager Neil Lennon earlier this season.

After a successful period with the Club, Celtic were 18 points adrift of fierce rivals Rangers in February and as a result it was mutually decided that Lennon end his contract.
John Kennedy has been the caretaker manager since Lennon’s departure.
Postecoglou posted on his Facebook page just hour ago.

It would be Postecoglou’s first move into European management and just reward for his work over the last six years.

He led Australia to the 2015 Asian Cup after a thrilling extra-time victory over South Korea.

According to bookmakers in the UK, Postecoglou is now the overwhelming favourite to be appointed as Celtic manager.

Next in line to him are Kennedy and Scotland national team manager, Steve Clarke.

The club revealed on Friday that they were set to officially announce the new manager ‘very shortly.’
