According to Lefteris Oikonomou, the Hellenic Police recorded an increase in cases of domestic violence in 2020. The vast majority of victims were women.

More specifically, Oikonomou stated that in 2020 there were 192 more cases recorded compared to 2019 due to efforts in encouraging victims to report their abuse.

In 2020, police undertook 5,413 cases related to domestic violence.

4,243 women (73%) and 1,566 men were victims in 2020 against women.

83% of perpetrators of these incidents were men (4,633) and 917 women.
