FAKE NEWS about the removal of Father Nektarios from his parish

ather Nektarios of the Greek Orthodox Parish of St Constantine and Helen, Newtown

A post circulating on social media has been causing much distress in the Greek Orthodox community of Sydney after it claimed that the much loved Father Nektarios of the Greek Orthodox Parish of St Constantine and Helen, Newtown has been ‘removed’ from his post.

The disturbing post making unsubstantiated claims.

Greek City Times understands that Father Nektarios has not been removed but continues to serve his Parish albeit under the current Covid-19 restrictions imposed on the state of NSW. As there is no official statement from the Archdiocese announcing any such ‘removal’ we would encourage members of the community to not rush to conclusions from unverified and unconfirmed sources.

As well-meaning some people might be, misunderstandings and misreading of events and circumstances can lead to very divisive and destructive misinformation.

Greek City Times will follow up the matter with the relevant Church authorities.
