Rising Greek Tennis Star Valentini Grammatikopoulou Wins US Open Qualifying Round

Rising Greek tennis star Valentini Grammatikopoulou, won the the qualifying round of the US Open after beating Italian Lucia Bronzetti, (ranked 172 of the WTA), in 2 sets to 1 in two hours and nineteen minutes by 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4 I.

The win for Grammatikopoulou, means she will continue  in the next round of the US Open.

Despite initially falling behind on the scoreboard, Grammatikopoulou  picked up her performance and got a clear victory .

In the next phase, the 24-year-old Greek will play against the Russian, Anna Kalinskaya, No. 137 tennis player in the world.

Valentini Grammatikopoulou (Greek: Βαλεντίνη Γραμματικοπούλου; born 9 February 1997) is a Greek tennis player who has won 11 singles and 19 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On 19 November 2018, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 158. On 6 March 2017, she peaked at No. 164 in the doubles rankings.

Playing for Greece in the Fed Cup, Grammatikopoulou has a win/loss record of 15–9.
