A 36-year old Greek national was arrested on Tuesday for possession of child pornography according to the Cybercrime authority unit of Northern Greece.
The Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece filed a criminal case against the alleged perpetrator for child pornography via the internet after a long online police operation codenamed “UNCOVERII”.
After many months, through intense online investigations and analysis of digital data, using special software programs, police eventually identified the user.
The Athens Prosecutor’s Office was informed and the relevant order was issued to lift the secrecy of communications. After correspondence with the internet service providers and from further police investigations, the identity and location of the accused were found and authorities proceeded with his arrest.
During the police search, two hard drives were found and confiscated, one of which was carefully hidden, a mobile phone and a sim card.
