Greece recognizes the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, but the digital application does not read its QR code, the Russians can present a printed certificate – and it will be accepted, said Primary Health Care Secretary General Marios Themistokleous at a briefing at the Ministry of Health on Monday evening.
There is still a flow of tourists to Greece from Russia, but the application that is used to check their vaccination certificates does not recognize third-country vaccines like the Sputnik V which is made in Russia.
This leads to the fact that tourists cannot be served in a restaurant or in any other enclosed space. He said that Greece is one of the most flexible countries in terms of recognizing other certificates, because most EU countries do not recognize, especially Sputnik. According to him, the digital system in Greece is much more advanced than in a number of countries, so that it can “read” more QR codes than in other countries.
