The Omicron mutation of COVID-19, as expected, has arrived in Greece.
As announced by the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, a case of the mutation was detected in Crete.
This is a Greek who had traveled to South Africa, according to the minister.
The president of Hellenic National Public Health Organisation (EODY), Theoklis Zaoutis, said that this person arrived in Greece on the morning of November 26 and underwent a rapid test at the airport, which came out negative.
Then he tested again on November 29, which came out positive and the next day he had mild symptoms.
A PCR test was performed, which showed that he was infected with the omicron mutation.
On Thursday morning, it was confirmed that this was the specific mutation.
According to Zaoutis, the person is in quarantine along with all his contacts as a trace was made.
