An artist in Germany picked a controversial way to explore the taboo of sexuality by adding explicit details to Greek Orthodox Church icons.
The bizarre action has sparked debate over whether it's merely art – or blasphemy, RT reported.
"I never intended to hurt or offend any particular faith group. Some feel hurt because I chose only one denomination as a symbol. This criticism is justified and I accept it," Christine Metzner, the German artist, said in response to the criticism received.
Despite the outcry, several works have already been sold.
