An explosion of Gas Canisters Outside St. Paul Church in Athens

An attempt was made to blow up the church of the Apostle Paul, located near the railway station Larissa in Athens, Greece. The explosion took place half an hour after midnight on January 1, 2022, reports arxon.gr.

The source of the detonation was an improvised explosive device that ignited 10 gas cylinders installed near the church (according to other sources: cans of gasoline – ed.). Insignificant material damage is reported – as a result of the explosion, the steps of the church were burnt.

The police are investigating to find and arrest the perpetrators.
