Greek Culture Minister Dr Lina Mendoni to attend Holy Saturday Easter Mass in Sydney

Greek Culture Minister Dr Lina Mendoni is currently on an official visit to Australia where she will officially open the exhibition Open HorizonsAncient Greek Journeys and Connections at the Melbourne Museum, featuring rare archaeological treasures from the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.

The Minister’s itinerary starts off with Sydney, where she is scheduled to meet the President of the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales, Mr Harry Danalis, who will host a dinner in her honour.

Dr Mendoni will then attend Holy Saturday Easter Mass at the Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Kogarah.

Easter Sunday she will attend mass at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Redfern followed by a meeting with His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios.

Prior to departing for Melbourne, Minister Mendoni is scheduled to attend the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and then visit key cultural institutions such as the Australian Archeological Institute of Athens based at Sydney University, the Department of Modern Greek and Byzantine Studies for a meeting with Professor Vrasidas Karalis, followed by a visit to the Chau Chak Wing Museum.

Her Sydney itinerary concludes on Tuesday with a visit to the Australian National Maritime Museum followed by a dinner in her honour on Tuesday evening hosted by the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney.
