The search operation of the port authorities to locate any missing migrants in the sea area of Farmakonisi within Greek territorial waters remain fruitless after the detection of five foreign men, according to their statement, were on board with other people in a boat which had an inflow of water.
According to the port authorities, the incident took place in Turkish territorial waters, where Turkish coast guard vessels have collected 11 people and five bodies.
The migrants reported that there were a total of 31 people on board the boat.
A navy ship, a helicopter, a lifeguard vessel and a port authority vessel are involved in the search in the sea area of Farmakonisi in Greek territorial waters, carried out amidst difficult weather conditions, under the coordination of the Unified Center for Search and Rescue Operations.
