Thomas Walkup is officially a Greek citizen, with the Olympiacos player having sent a letter to the relevant authorities to express his desire. Now Thomas has the right to compete in the Greek National Team, declaring that he feels our country as his homeland.
One day after the Gazzetta report, which first revealed the news, Walkup was naturalised as a Greek, with the seal of the Official Gazette signed by the Minister of the Interior, Makis Voridis, and the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
Walkup initiated the procedures himself and after the Presidential Decree, he is now a Greek citizen. In fact, he pledged to return his passport in the event that he refuses to wear the national team jersey in the future.
Walkup’s naturalisation comes a few days after the announcement of the extension of his contract with Olympiacos, during which he spoke Greek and promised to learn it better in the next four years that he intends to remain in Limani.
