Thessaloniki: Turkish-flagged cargo ship prohibited from sailing and the captain was arrested

Officers of the Port Authority of Thessaloniki arrested the master of a cargo ship on Friday for disrupting the safety of water transport.

Specifically, after an inspection carried out by authorities inside the port of Greece's second city,  on a cargo ship under the Turkish flag and with twelve crew members, it was found that the loading line of the ship in question had been exceeded.

The Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki, which conducts the preliminary investigation, prohibited the sailing of the ship in question, while the procedure for imposing the prescribed administrative sanctions was initiated.
