Metropolis of Boston Holds St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival

BOSTON -The Metropolis of Boston’s St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival was held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox parish in Manchester, NH, with the blessings and presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios at this annual event.

The Metropolis Level Competition had the largest participation this year, with 26 young speakers presenting excellent speeches. The First, Second, and Third Place speakers were awarded scholarships for the Metropolis of Boston Summer Camp program.

The list of winners follows:

1st Place Senior – Vilson Lipam from Sts. Constantine and Helen of Webster, MA

2nd Place Senior – Nicholas Tonna from St. Spyridon Worcester, MA

3rd Place Senior – Vasilios Karanos from Annunciation in Brockton, MA

1st Place Junior – Sophia Nichols from Annunciation of Cranston, RI

2nd Place Junior – Peter Livingston from St. Demetrios of Weston, MA

3rd Place Junior – Genevieve Walker from St. Spyridon of Newport, RI

Metropolitan Methodios stated, “the Metropolis of Boston is very proud of all the youth who stepped forward to explore their faith, write speeches, and compete at the Parish and Metropolis Levels of the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festivals. Congratulations to the Metropolis Chairperson for this event, Fr. Theodore Toppses, to the youth who participated, their parents, the judges, the parishes, the volunteers, and all who made this event possible.”
