Barack Obama is vacationing in Greece with his family as guests of the Hanks couple in Antiparos. Last night they visited the Cantina restaurant in Sifnos, and for the first time, they were “captured” by the camera.
According to Iefimerida, Barack Obama, together with his wife Michelle and their two daughters Malia and Sasha, and of course the couple Tom Hanks – Rita Wilson, arrived by boat yesterday in Sifnos (half an hour away from Antiparos, where they live).
Once on the island, they visited the excellent and well-known Cantina restaurant, which is located on the beach in Kastro.
The Obama family and the Hanks couple arrived a little after 8pm, they were especially happy, laughing and approachable, people recognised them – as expected – and they responded and reciprocated in a friendly manner.
They ate in a quiet corner of the restaurant and left again for Antiparos after finishing their meal.
Holidays in the Greek islands for the Obamas before the speech at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation
The Obamas arrived on a private flight to Paros on Friday and, under draconian security measures, took the liner to Antiparos, where they are being hosted by the Hanks in their uniquely beautiful villa.
Obama and Hanks share a deep friendship and have vacationed together in the past.
Apparently on the occasion of Barack Obama’s speech at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation next Friday, the family of the former US president was invited by the Hanks couple to spend a few relaxing days together enjoying the sun and sea in the Aegean.
The Obama family and the Hanks couple, based in Antiparos, reportedly enjoyed walks on nearby and as secluded beaches as possible over the weekend, as well as excursions to nearby islands on a private yacht.
The former president of the USA is naturally accompanied in his every move by the secret services.
The Cantina restaurant, in a magical corner of Sifnos
Sifnos is one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades, every corner and village is indeed special, however the spot where the Cantina restaurant is located is extremely special.
It is located on a beach, almost isolated, below the medieval settlement of Kastro, in Seralia, where until a few years ago a single tavern operated.
Today there are three in total, composing a nice micro-environment. Here was also the port of the capital in ancient Sifnos.
