Thessaloniki: 15-year-old beaten by anarchists for wearing an Air Force shirt

Thessaloniki air force shirt

A 15-year-old was attacked in Thessaloniki by hooded men because he was wearing a shirt of the Greek Air Force shirt.

According to the complaint by the boy’s father, the incident happened at 20:30 last Saturday night when the 15-year-old was with a friend of the same age at the junction of Alexandros Svolos and Ethniki Amini streets.

The 15-year-old was suddenly hit from behind by two older men, who were wearing full-face masks. The teenager fell to the ground and the assailants continued to kick him in the body and head, resulting in two cracked ribs. The perpetrators, after beating the minor, fled in an unknown direction.

The father of the 15-year-old, Giorgos Karapiperis, claims, according to Thestival, that anarchists carried out the attack on his son because he was wearing a shirt with the emblem of the Air Force on the chest and the Greek flag on the arm.

“I’m 1,000% sure he was beaten for the shirt. Did they have to beat him? Was it challenging?” asked the 15-year-old’s father.

After the attack, the 15-year-old was hospitalised for three days with two ribs cracked by the blows of the hoodlums.

“My child has bruises all over his body,” said his father.

“I want to hunt them down and catch them”

The 15-year-old’s father says he is outraged by the attack which his son and his friend received. He said he wants to hunt down the perpetrators and catch them himself.

“It’s better for them that the police find them, than me. I have never touched a mosquito in my life. If they don’t find them first, they will be very unlucky in life. I want to hunt them down and catch them,” he said.

“These two must be punished, they must understand what punishment is,” added the father.

He states that, today, Wednesday, he will file a lawsuit against unknown persons for the incident, while the competent authorities will call the 15-year-old for a statement.
