Attica is reminiscent of Kamini due to the "Kleona" heatwave, with the situation being extremely difficult. The temperature has skyrocketed, with the unbearable heat and the mercury in the centre of Athens making everyone not in air conditioning suffer.
Specifically, Syntagma even showed 45 degrees Celsius.
The evzones are melting from the high temperatures
Despite the prevailing heat, the presidential guardsmen, commonly known as the Evzones, remain motionless in their positions at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma.
As can be seen in the photos, the duty officer often approaches them to give them ice water and wipe the sweat from their faces. At this point it should be emphasised that despite the high temperatures, the tourists did not hesitate and went to Syntagma to photograph the Evzones.
The heatwave 'Kleon' is in full progress throughout Greece on Friday. According to meteorologists, Friday is expected to be the hottest with temperatures reaching 44 on the Celsius scale in Sterea and Thessaly.
Additionally, a level 3 heat-health alert was issued in Athens, Thessaloniki and Larissa on Friday.
The fire risk rose significantly as very warm and dry conditions greatly increase the flammability of dead organic matter in forests.
Driving examinations for all categories of vehicles scheduled on Friday will be cancelled, the Attica Region's General Directorate of Transport and Communications said on Thursday, due to extremely high temperatures.
The Region advised prospective drivers who were going to be tested on Friday (July 14) to reschedule their tests.
