In a heart-wrenching TikTok video, Amy revealed how the flames dangerously approached her hotel, forcing guests to evacuate. They initially sought refuge in another hotel but were soon compelled to leave again. Distressingly, the hotel staff abruptly left them without guidance, and they were left to navigate the chaos independently.
According to Amy, the airline they booked their holiday with, Jet2, did not provide any assistance during the crisis. They received no communication or support from the company, leaving them feeling abandoned and without help. Despite being repeatedly advised to stay put and trust the hotel to handle the situation, they ultimately had to flee for their safety.
Amy expressed her immense gratitude to a courageous Greek man who saved her family by offering them a ride in the back of his truck. He took them to a nearby beach, where rescue boats eventually transported them and other stranded tourists to a nearby school for shelter.
The traumatic experience left Amy fearing for her daughter's life and contemplating how to protect her if the fire caught up with them. The relief of reaching safety was palpable as they made it to a five-star hotel, but the trauma of the past hours was overwhelming.
