Very high risk of fire (category 4) on Monday for four regions in Greece

Very high fire danger

A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted on Monday for four regions of Greece, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr).

In particular, a very high risk of fire is predicted for the following regions:

- Attica

- Central Greece (Evia)

- The Ionian Islands (Corfu, Cephalonia, Ithaca, Zakynthos)

- North Aegean (Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria)

Meanwhile, according to the Fire Department, the three fires that broke out on Saturday afternoon in the areas of Palaiovarvasaina and Salmoni of the Municipality of Pyrgos, as well as in the area of Fanaras of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia, have been contained.

The Fire Department said ground forces are operating in all three areas to control the fires fully, and the deal will possible rekindlings immediately.

A man was arrested in Ilia, accused of attempted arson.
