Sadness on social media: TikTok's beloved "Greek mother" has died

TikTok

On social media, especially on TikTok, mothers, fathers, grandfathers or grandmothers become viral. This results in these people becoming very dear to users, who feel they are people from their everyday lives.

One of these persons was the mother of the Greek-American comedian Gus Constantellis, who introduced us to the "Greek mom of TikTok". His users and followers were very saddened when they learned that a few days ago, the Greek mother suddenly passed away during her vacation in Greece.

I am so, so sorry to say that my mom suffered a stroke due to a brain aneurysm while on vacation in Greece and unfortunately will not recover. We spent 4 days in Crete with her and we were supposed to meet in Athens for the last few days of our vacation. I cannot express how grateful I am to all of you who embraced her and loved her just as much as I did. I built a shrine to her on my social media and will continue to do so. It’s so funny: She hated when I started filming her at first but when she started seeing her impact, she loved it so much. Making these videos was a way of getting to know her beyond the roles that society put her in. I hope that I was able to give her a voice that she never had and I am so happy you were all here to listen. I just know she’ll be smoking a pack up there. We lost a legend. #greekmom #greektiktok #greekcomedy

Many did not want to believe it. However, her son himself had announced the fact on his social media.

Her reactions, what she said and how she behaved were all that the classic Greek mother had, and in the comments under each post, they worshipped her.

She was a woman who lived in America but always remembered her homeland's traditions, manners and customs. She was an avid smoker, a classic mother and grandmother who constantly cooked food and sweets for her children and grandchildren while her personality was intense.

Her son wrote on social media: "I am so, so sorry to say that my mom suffered a stroke due to a brain aneurysm while on vacation in Greece and unfortunately will not recover.
