Tsitsipas on match with Slovakia: "We're waiting for you at the Panathenaic Stadium to make history"

The Panathenaic Stadium opens its gates for the first time in its history for tennis matches on September 16 & 17, 2023, and Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas is encouraging people to witness history.

In collaboration with the historic Athens Tennis Club, this two-day event will be held, the crucial meeting between the Greek National Team and the Slovakian Team for GROUP I of the DAVIS CUP.

“A childhood dream of mine will come true next month. In September, I will be able to compete with our national team at the Panathenaic Stadium in the game with Slovakia for the Davis Cup. In the place where the first modern Olympic Games were hosted, tennis matches will be held for the first time for the top event of the sport at the level of National teams," said the leading Greek tennis player.

And he adds: "I am sure that the image from Kallimarmaro will travel around the world, advertising our country. At the same time, it will be proven once again that Greece can organise great sporting events. On the weekend of September 16 and 17, we are waiting for you at the Panathenaic Stadium to make history together and to make our National Team proud among the top teams in the world."

The meeting at the Panathenaic Stadium will occur under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens.
