The case of the brutal murder of the six Turks in Loutsa, which is said to be a settlement between criminal groups based in Turkey and active, mainly in the drug trade, is widely covered in the Turkish media.
The reports refer to Barış Boyun, leader of one of the two gangs, who is wanted and allegedly lives in Italy. Boyun is known for his motorcycle-based hitman gang that is “active” in Istanbul, while members of the group have previously been attacked abroad.
He leads one of the largest and most dangerous criminal organisations. He is wanted as the primary person responsible for many murders committed in Turkey and Europe.
With the central front page headline: “Death ambush of a gang in Athens,” the newspaper Hürriyet refers to the brutal murder in Loutsa.
The publication talks about six men – associates of Barış Boyun, leader of the gang and known for his bloody attacks against rival groups in Istanbul, who lost their lives in an ambush in Athens. The newspaper notes that Boyun murdered members of rival groups with “motorised death squads”.
Under the title: “Ambush on Barıs Boyun’s gang in Greece: 6 dead”, the newspaper Milliyet refers to the brutal murder in Loutsa, noting that it is a mafia showdown between the mafia. “While efforts to arrest the perpetrators who fled in a vehicle continued, it became known that the victims were members of a criminal network known to the Turkish police and had been the target of investigations in the past,” referring to members of the notorious Boyun gang.
“6 Turks were murdered in Greece! The police consider it a “mafia encounter”, writes the TGRT network, broadcasting all the information about the case, as published by Proto Thema and other Greek media.
“Armed attack in Greece. 6 Turks were executed” is the title of a newspaper publication, Sözcü, stating that the dead carried French identification cards, whose authenticity is being examined. “Also, it was claimed that these individuals are suspected of drug smuggling that was active in Greece and France,” the newspaper notes.
“6 Turks were executed in a vehicle in Loutsa, one of Greece’s most important holiday centers. The incident is dominating the Greek media, which are talking about a mafia showdown,” says a Türkiye newspaper report entitled: “Armed attack in Greece: 6 Turks were executed”.
