Petrol prices out of control throughout Greece - Unleaded fuel reaches 2.3 euros

The fuel prices continue to rise steadily throughout Greece, which has been over 2 euros on average for days.

According to the updated data of the Ministry of Development, the average price of unleaded 95 octane reached on Monday (18/9) at 2.037 euros/litre against 2.033 euros/litre on Sunday (17/9).

The trend was equally upward for the rest of the fuel types (except for LPG). Indicative:

Unleaded 100 octane: 2.211 euros on 18/9 from 2.208 euros on 17/9
Diesel: 1.844 euros on 18/9 from 1.837 euros on 17/9
Autogas: 0.892 euros on 18/9 from 0.889 euros on 17/9

In the individual prefectures, the average price of simple lead-free in Attica was on Monday at 2.006 euros, while in Cyclades, it exceeded 2.26 euros. Gasoline reached the threshold of 2.2 euros in the Dodecanese as well.

The price increases in the domestic fuel market are primarily attributed to the "hot" course of the international crude oil prices and its by-products.

Brent, for example, is already above $95/barrel, while WTI is above $92/barrel, up 1/3 from mid-June when the frenzied rally began.
