Dimitris Itoudis has been relieved of his coaching duties for the Greek National Team following the conclusion of the 2023 FIBA World Cup. In his place, Vassilis Spanoulis, the current coach of Peristeri and a prominent figure in Greek basketball, is set to assume the position, as per reports from Sport24.

The official announcement is set to be made on Monday, marking the transition from Itoudis to Spanoulis. Greece's disappointing 15th-place finish in the World Cup prompted the decision to part ways with Itoudis. In a relatively short period of time, Spanoulis has established himself as head coach of Peristeri after previously leading the EuroLeague Under-18 Next Generation Select Team.

The collaboration between Spanoulis and the Greek National Team is highly anticipated, with both parties eager for the partnership. It is expected to span the next two years, encompassing the 2024 Olympic Games, subject to the team's qualification from the Pre-Olympic tournament, as well as EuroBasket 2025.
