Turkey's defense ministry has announced that an airstrike was carried out in northern Iraq following a suicide bombing in the capital, Ankara.

The attack targeted the Kurdish militant group PKK, which claimed responsibility for the bombing. Meanwhile, prior to the airstrike, two police officers were injured in an assault in Ankara just hours before parliament was set to reconvene after a three-month recess.

Ali Yerlikaya, Turkey's interior minister, confirmed the involvement of two terrorists, one killed in the explosion and the other in a subsequent shootout with the police.

The Turkish government spokesperson stated on the social media platform X that the airstrike focused on destroying 20 target locations, including caves, bunkers, and warehouses used by the terrorists.

They emphasized that efforts were made to avoid harm to civilians during the operation.
