Athina Onassis in Mykonos - "She doesn't speak a word of Greek and doesn't want anything to do with Greece"

Athina Onassis

Why doesn't she speak Greek, and why doesn't she want to have anything to do with Greece? She sells everything…

Athina Onassis arrived in Mykonos with a large group of friends who tried to hide her identity, wearing a scarf, according to the journalist of the show "The Breakfast", Yiannis Malliaros.

The only surviving descendant of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis had last come to Greece in 2006. She lives in an isolated town in the Netherlands, and people who have met her say she keeps her distance emotionally from Greece.

For this reason, she has even sold everything, from jewellery to houses with a connecting link.

She never learned Greek, and she does not want anything to do with Greece because it hurts her...

Speaking on the "Studio 4" show, Petros Nazos said the golden heiress arrived in Mykonos on Monday, October 2, by private plane. In the afternoon of the same day, she was walking in the island alleys, and a journalist friend saw her.

As Petros Nezos said, his friends "saw four bodyguards and a girl with glasses, a hat and a scarf. He understood that it was someone, and indeed it was Athina."

So far, there are no photos of Athina from her visit to the cosmopolitan island.

The only surviving heir of Christina's mother and her legendary grandfather Aristotle is the continuation of a legend but prefers not to be in the public eye.

For a decade, Athina has chosen the path of silence. She is present in very public events. Two years ago, we saw her as a guest at a wedding in Monte Carlo, entirely changed from a photo that Gianna Darili had published with her and her husband, George Psipsikas.

The 38-year-old is devoted only to her horses, the estate she has created in the Netherlands and the breeding farm in Brazil. Of course, the family property is managed abroad and in Greece through the Onassis Foundation.

However, she has yet to keep the mansions and apartments that her mother had in Europe, while she has sold many of her items and jewellery, and now her fortune is 1 billion euros.

Since she only opens up to a few close friends, we don't know if her new life, after the 11-year relationship with Alvaro De Miranda Neto ended suddenly due to his infidelity, makes her happy.

Athina is a French-Greek heiress and equestrian, the only surviving descendant of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, and the only child of Aristotle's daughter Christina Onassis.

She was born at the American Hospital of Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, to Christina Onassis (1950–1988) and her fourth husband, Thierry Roussel, a French pharmaceutical heir. She was baptised on the island of Skorpios, owned by the Onassis family then.

Her parents were married from 1984 to 1987. They divorced after Roussel had two children with his mistress, Swedish model Marianne "Gaby" Landhage.

Christina Onassis died of pulmonary edema in November 1988, when Athina was three years old. After her mother's death, she was raised by Roussel and Landhage, whom Roussel later married.

For her early education, Onassis attended a school in Lussy-sur-Morges, Switzerland, where the Roussels lived. Following a preparatory course in Brussels, Belgium, she passed her baccalauréat exam in the summer of 2003.

Onassis has three half-siblings via her father's relationship with Landhage: Erik Christopher Roussel (born July 1985), Sandrine Roussel (born May 1987), and Johanna Roussel (born July 1991).
