Facing criminal, as well as disciplinary responsibilities for breach of duty, is a forest ranger who was spotted by game wardens while hunting illegally in the middle of the night in a mountainous forest area near the village of Kroustas in Crete, without even having a hunting license.

The Game Guard arrested the 57-year-old in the early hours of Monday when they spotted him shooting game without catching it. In his car they found his shotgun loaded with cartridges ready for new shots, a flashlight and a bag in which he intended to put the hares he would hunt, Proto Thema reported.

The vehicle, the flashlight and the weapon were confiscated, and the ranger was taken to the Forestry Directorate. His colleagues imposed the prescribed administrative fine of €1,500 and filed a case against him for violations of the hunting law, with which he was referred to the District Attorney of Lasithi.
