Erdoğan: Israel hides under the skirts of the West and will collapse when faced with a real army

New threats against Israel, although indirect but clear, were launched by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the cabinet meeting in Ankara.

Israel will collapse when it faces a real army, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He argued that "as long as Israel hides under the skirts of the West, as long as it escalates its atrocities, the more serious the consequences will be."

Escalating his attack on the Israeli government, he stated that the killing of innocent children, women, and unarmed and helpless people with the most modern means of warfare in the world is an atrocity that only befits cowards like the Israeli leaders.

"It is certain that Israel, which trembles before a handful of civilians in Gaza, will collapse when faced with a real army, a real force. We hope that the Israeli government will recover as soon as possible without having to be led to such a painful fate," said Erdoğan.

"Israel, of course, will be held accountable," he noted among others, wondering: "I don't know where Netanyahu will take refuge."

As the Turkish president argued, "the war crimes he committed will have a special place in his trials in the near future. Sooner or later, they will be judged in the court of humanity."

At the same time, he once again turned against the West, saying that "the countries that gave Netanyahu this audacity and covered up the crimes will have the same fate."

"If America and European countries had not supported Israel, this government would not have been able to act so ruthlessly. Their past is full of atrocities," the Turkish president added.

His comments were made just a day before he arrives in Athens on Thursday.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Erdoğan, who arrives in Athens on Thursday, will sit at the table in the Maximos Mansion with open cards for talks that will to a significant extent decide the pace of the new contacts for 2024 as well.

The meeting’s primary goal is consolidating the calm in the Aegean while at the same time the fifth High Cooperation Council (HCC) will convene, during which some symbolic rather than substantive agreements are expected to be signed.
