Registered unemployment down 3.1% in November 2023 compared to November 2022

Registered unemployment totalled 1,028,123 in November 2023, down by 33,296 (-3.1%) compared to November 2022 and up by 127,826 (14.2%) compared to October, Public Employment Service (DYPA) said in a report on Wednesday.

More specifically, of the 1,028,123 registered unemployed, 500,602 (48.7%) were long-term unemployed, and 527,521 (51.3%) were short-term unemployed (under 12 months).

Men accounted for 368,425 (35.8%) of registered unemployment, and women for 659,698 (64.2%).

The 30-44 age group comprised the greatest majority of registered unemployed in terms of age, totalling 333,438 (32.4%).

The number of registered unemployed who received checks in November 2023 totalled 147,754, of whom 104,102 (70.5%) are classified as general, and various other categories and 43,652 (29.5%) are seasonal tourism workers.

Men accounted for 60,331 (40.8%) and women for 87,423 (59.2%) of the unemployed receiving checks in November.
