A 73-year-old man, who was stabbed ten times by a 25-year-old Albanian who tried to rob him on Wednesday night in Kefalonia, is being treated in critical condition at the University Hospital of Ioannina.
According to the police, the 25-year-old Klodian Saliaj was accompanied by 18-year-old Albanian compatriot Jordan Bejaj. The two Albanians initially broke the window of the older man's house in Agia Efimia, with Saliaj entering the house and Bejaj keeping a lookout.
ERT reported that when the 73-year-old entered his house, the 25-year-old Albanian attacked him with a knife, hitting him approximately ten times in the abdomen and shoulder blade. The two robbers then fled.
The victim managed to get out into the street covered in blood and call for help, collapsing in the nearest house he found. The 73-year-old was initially taken to the Argostoli hospital, where he underwent surgery, but in the end, it was deemed necessary to be transported by helicopter to the University Hospital of Ioannina.
Finally, the two Albanians were arrested on Thursday afternoon by police officers of the Argostoli Security Department and the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team (OPKE) of Kefalonia.

During the spontaneous procedure today (28.12.2023), in the afternoon, in Kefalonia, two foreigners, aged 18, were arrested by police officers of the Argostoli Security Department and the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team (OPKE) of Kefalonia and 25 years old, accused of attempted robbery and violation of the arms law, while, in addition, it was found that they lacked documents for their legal stay in Greek territory.
In more detail, it emerged from the police investigation that yesterday evening (27.12.2023), the perpetrators, to remove objects, broke a window of an elderly man's house in the area of Sami Kefallinia, where one of them (25 years old) entered it, while the other (18 years old) remained outside monitoring the area.
At that time, its elderly tenant entered the house, at whose sight the 25-year-old assailant attacked him with a knife, causing serious physical injuries to his abdomen and shoulder blade, while then, together with his accomplice, they fled.
The injured was taken to a hospital, where he remains hospitalised in critical condition.
From the thorough investigation by the police, the details of the -2- perpetrators were identified, who, after careful searches, were located and arrested this afternoon (28.12.2023) in the area of Kefalonia.
The Security Department of Argostoli is carrying out a preliminary investigation in cooperation with the Police Department of Sami.
Those arrested will be taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Kefalonia.
