A Turkish-flagged tanker collided with the Vathy Avlida port facilities pier in the southern Euboean Gulf.

The incident occurred during the mooring operations of the ship, which was carrying 2,200 metric tons of caustic soda.

The master of the tanker was arrested for violating the Articles on maritime transport and collision avoidance.

Officials of the relevant Port Authority found a crack on the right mask of the tanker, above the fenders.

There were no injuries from the incident and the ship docked safely.

The relevant Port Authority prohibited the sailing of the D/X ship, until the presentation of a certificate of maintenance of class by the classifier monitoring the ship.
